Book Review: The Rithmatist
So, this is the book I read during the Bout of Books Read-A-Thon. This is the first book I have read by Brandon Sanderson. I follow a few people on BookTube and my favorite person, Regan, loves his books. So, I had to check him out. I loved this book! It wasn't one that I just demolished really fast, but I really enjoyed it. It is going to be a series and it will be one that I buy whenever it comes out!
Goodreads Synopsis: More than anything, Joel wants to be a Rithmatist. Rithmatists have the power to infuse life into two-dimensional figures known as Chalklings. Rithmatists are humanity’s only defense against the Wild Chalklings. Having nearly overrun the territory of Nebrask, the Wild Chalklings now threaten all of the American Isles.
As the son of a lowly chalkmaker at Armedius Academy, Joel can only watch as Rithmatist students learn the magical art that he would do anything to practice. Then students start disappearing—kidnapped from their rooms at night, leaving trails of blood. Assigned to help the professor who is investigating the crimes, Joel and his friend Melody find themselves on the trail of an unexpected discovery—one that will change Rithmatics—and their world—forever.
I was really intrigued by the world that Sanderson has created. The element of mystery was great and the book still had you guessing at the end. There was also and element of religion. The Master selects who will be a rithmatist at the age of 8. The selection happens in the church. There was a definite picture of God having a different plan for different people and accepting what He has in store for you instead of wishing you were someone or something else. I highly recommend this book!

Bout of Books 12 Wrap Up
Epic fail! Those are the words I have to describe my first read-a-thon. I didn't make it through one book. Life got so busy that I just didn't have time to read. I was also reminded that I am a mood reader. I really don't like planning what books I'm going to read. What if I'm not in the mood to read a certain book. I don't want to force myself to read something I am really not that into. I have really been enjoying The Rithmatist, but there were days when I really wanted to be reading the Harry Potter book I am in the middle of. Of course, it didn't help that the Harry Potter boxed set I ordered came in the middle of the read-a-thon.
So, if I ever do another read-a-thon, I will stick with what I'm already reading and just go from there. Be back soon!

Bout Of Books 12 TBR and Day 1 Progress
Hey, there! Here are the books I am hoping to read this week for the Bout Of Books Read-A-Thon.
I didn't do that great for the first day. I am only on page 58 of the first one. I'm hoping I can power through today and get more done. Feel free to let me know if you are also participating in this read-a-thon and what books you're planning to read. Be back soon!

Bout of Books 12
I will be participating in the Bout of Books Read-a-thon for the first time this month! It starts tomorrow and ends on Sunday. The goal is to read all the books you can over the next seven days. I'm curious how much I will get done given the fact that I am a wife, mother, and am starting school this Friday. We'll see. Here's more info about this read-a-thon.
The Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, January 5th and runs through Sunday, January 11th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 12 information and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. - From the Bout of Books team
Happy Reading!

Welcome!
Welcome to my new blog! Here, I am all about books! I wanted a place to talk about books with other readers because I just love reading right now. I also want to be a place where people can come and get honest reviews from a Christian perspective. I read all kinds of genre's but most of the books I read are YA fiction. So, that's mainly what you will find here. I'll be doing book reviews, a once a month read-along, and even some videos of my book hauls and monthly wrap-ups of the books I have read. I am really excited about this blog and hope to get a lot of people here to join me in discussing various books!
